Montparn : an ice rink with a view on Paris at the Panoramic Observatory of the Montparnasse Tower

Want an original place for a meeting, for a family outing or with friends.

We have what you need: Montparn'Ice !

What is Montparn’s Ice ?

Montparn’Ice is an ice rink installed on the 59th floor of the Montparnasse Tower, on the terrace of the Panoramic Observatory of the Montparnasse Tower. Obviously, this is an activity for those who are not afraid of heights and who are not afraid of doing the impossible montparnice-156 floors in 38 seconds. Yes, the last three are done by the stairs. We know, it's hard…

Once these few floors climbed, here we are in front of the highest skating rink in the world, at 210m from the ground.

Although the Parisian temperatures are a bit cold, they are not cold enough to allow an ice rink to stay frozen permanently. But, no ice brought back here. We have an ecological ice rink, which does not consume electricity. Instead, the company Boaz Concept, the initiator of this idea, has used a synthetic ice made of polyethylene plates.

To the eye, it is easy to get caught up in it, with its bluish reflections that perfectly recall the frozen water. The feeling is still different. We clearly feel the difference with a classic skating rink, the glide is not quite the same, and the first steps will be difficult ! In the worst case, you have some little chair-sledders that will help you.

But, we end up getting used to it and with a little practice, we get used to it quite well.

And apart from that ?

For Sunday skaters or those who don't skate at all, there are also two curling rinks.Apparently it's a kind of petanque on ice but with very big palets. It looks like fun (except when you watch it on TV) ! And also, after all these emotions, there is obviously something to refresh with a champagne bar or on the contrary, to warm up with a hot chocolate or a hot wine. (It still lacks cheese grilled or fries…)

At night, the music and the lighting make their show and it is rather nice to come at this time of the day. The illuminations of Paris spoil the atmosphere.

We spent a very good time with, in addition, the most beautiful view of Paris.

Where, when, how ?

To get there, just go to Montparnasse and look for something super high like in New York. But in case you have not been to New York, here is the address: Observatoire Panoramique de la Tour Montparnasse, 33 rue du Maine, 75015 Paris.

The rink is open from February 10 to March 5, 7 days a week, from 12pm to 8pm and until 10pm on weekends and on February 14.

The price is the same as the entrance to the Observatory, 15€ for adults, (12€ for students, 9.50€ for children between 7 and 12 years old and free for children under 7 years old). So it's all good. For the same price, you have the right to a view and an ice rink.

The skates are lent, on the other hand the gloves are obligatory. It would be a shame to lose a piece of finger…
